The workshop
Designed and made in Castellón de la Plana, Spain
Every piece is cut, adjusted and switched on in the same workshop. There is no factory behind us and no warehouse full of stock: there is a workbench, two people, and a lamp that starts being made the day you order it.
We work with wood, stone and metal cut thin enough for light to pass through. It is a narrow margin: a little more and the piece stays opaque, a little less and it no longer holds. That point cannot be calculated; it is found by hand in every sheet.

Who makes it
We make it ourselves, and it shows
We are two brothers. We choose the sheet, cut it, adjust it, fit the LED and switch the piece on before it goes into the box. There is no one in between, and that means two things: every lamp has passed through the same pair of hands from start to finish, and whoever answers your questions is the person who made it.
What we do not know how to do, we do not do: the fittings and the cabling come from suppliers just down the road, chosen one by one and known to us by name. We prefer that to setting up a production line and calling it craft.
What it is made of
Material you cannot fake
Twenty materials, and not one is a laminate or an imitation: they are hardwoods, natural stone and metal. The wood is opened into veneer and chosen by its grain, not by its batch. The stone is cut into sheets until light passes through it, which is where it starts to show what it holds inside.
No two grains are alike. The piece you receive will not match the photograph: it will be the same lamp, with a pattern of its own. That is what happens when the material was made by time and not by a machine.

Why it takes time
It all comes down to a millimetre
A millimetre too much and the sheet stays opaque: you switch the lamp on and nothing happens. A millimetre too little and it stops holding, or the LED shows through as a blotch. Between those two things there is a very narrow margin, and it is not the same in an olive root as in a piece of slate, nor even in two sheets from the same board.
That is why every sheet is measured, tested against the light and measured again. We do not mass-produce, and it is not a pose: this point simply cannot be found on a production line.

How it started
Two brothers and an obsession with light
The same obsession has kept us together for years: interiors and things made by hand. And one specific complaint, which is where all this came from: the light in our homes has become too harsh. Efficient, yes, but uncomfortable. We had spent a long time looking for a light closer to how the eye actually sees, and we both ended up in the same place by different routes: passing it through natural material.
There are few of us, and that has an upside for you: a different measurement, a longer cable or advice on where to hang it gets dealt with, not passed on. Write to us and the person who will make it answers.
